Everyone has dozens of apps installed on their phone such as apps for social media, communication, music, etc. Here is what we think are 3 of the best mobile apps for interior designers.

    1. SketchUp

SketchUp is a 3D modeling software used by professionals everywhere because of its vast range of features and user-friendliness. Although SketchUp requires a computer to do the actual 3D design, they do have apps that let you view designs on your phone or tablet. They actually announced that they’re working on an iPad version that will let you actually do 3D design on your iPad but it’s still in beta.

There are plugins that you can add to SketchUp to make your mockups look extremely realistic and it makes it very easy to show your clients almost exactly what their space will look like before you spend the time and money on actual renovations.

    2. AutoCAD

AutoCAD is made by AUTODESK and it is known by pretty much every designer for how flexible and feature-rich the software is. Although more costly than other similar software, AutoCAD has a feature-set that’s basically unmatched and their mobile app lets you actually edit files and not just view them.

The great thing about AutoCAD is that they have a large library of free premade furniture, cabinets, and other interior design elements that you can easily add to your design to save time. Some of those free AutoCAD design elements can be found here. One of the few negatives with AutoCad is that because of the number of features it has, it has a steep learning curve so we definitely recommend you enroll in an online course or watch some tutorials before you begin.

    3. QuickBooks

In terms of financing software, very few are more robust and well-reviewed than QuickBooks. You can easily create invoices, track your expenses, track mileage when you drive to meet clients, send estimates, manage inventory, pay contractors, and keep track of taxes all in one place. They even make it super easy to send all the information to your accountant or bookkeeper.

The pricing is very fair for everything it offers, and once you log in to the software, the UI is very nicely done on both the web and mobile versions. You can see the features they offer, and even try out a demo here. If you’re already using our services, you can get a discounted version of their Plus plan here.
